Smootv on Fire TV Stick: set it up in about five minutes
Smootv runs well on every current Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube and Fire TV smart TV. § 001 — Before you start
Before you install Smootv on your Fire TV Stick
You need three things: a Fire TV Stick connected to the internet, a player app from the Amazon Appstore, and your Smootv login (username, password and server address). If you don't have a login yet, ask for the free 24-hour Smootv trial first; it needs no card.

Older first-generation sticks still play Smootv, but they are slow to load long programme guides. If yours is from before 2017, a newer stick makes a bigger difference than any setting.
§ 002 — HOT IPTV Player
Step by step: Smootv with HOT IPTV Player
Open the Appstore
On the Fire TV home screen, go to Find (the magnifying glass) and search for HOT IPTV Player.
Install and open the app
Select Download. When it opens, the app shows a device code on screen. Keep that screen open.
Send us the device code
Send the code to Smootv on WhatsApp or Telegram, or enter it on the app maker's activation page yourself if you prefer.
Add your Smootv login
We connect your Smootv login to that device code, or you type the username, password and server address into the app.
Restart the app
Close HOT IPTV Player and open it again. Live TV, films, series and the programme guide load in under a minute.
§ 003 — IBO Player
Alternative: Smootv with IBO Player
IBO Player works the same way. Search for IBO Player in the Appstore, install it, note the MAC address and device key it shows, and send them to us in the chat. We add your Smootv login, you restart the app and you're watching.
Any other player that accepts Xtream Codes logins also works with the same Smootv details, so you can switch apps later without a new subscription.
§ 004 — Best settings
Fire TV settings that make Smootv run smoother
- Use the 5 GHz WiFi network if your router offers one. It is faster and less crowded than 2.4 GHz.
- Put the router within one or two rooms of the TV, or use an Ethernet adapter for the stick; a cable connection is the single best fix for evening stutter.
- Free up storage: Settings → Applications → Manage installed applications. Uninstall apps you never open; low storage slows everything down.
- Restart the stick once a week: Settings → My Fire TV → Restart. It clears memory that long viewing sessions fill up.
- Turn off data monitoring (Settings → Preferences → Data monitoring). It can lower picture quality on purpose.
